Canon (UK) Ltd provides multi-functional devices (MFD) – (i.e. printers/scanners) – to the OPCC/Force.
This is via the Crown Commercial Services (CCS) Framework. The current rental agreement expires on 30th April 2016.
The Fleet of MFD’s still includes some old equipment, for which spare parts are difficult find. There is an increase in downtime on these devices.
E-Copy licences across Force devices, required for all scanning, are also out of support. They need to be upgraded to a newer version for which the minimum support term is 3 years.
An assessment of the current devices has taken place. Liaising closely with our supplier, this assessment took into account the age of devices and their volume of work.
The move to the Community Safety Hub has also been considered. It is felt that there should be a reduction in the number of different models throughout the Force to assist agile working.
An options paper is attached. It sets out more background to the proposed decision.
