During the financial year 2014/15 and 2015/16 a £4.85m budget for Child Sexual Abuse support service was administered through the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Norfolk.
This increased capacity of specialist support services in recognition of the unprecedented increase in need.
A Cleveland service provider was successful in this process.

In 2016/17, the Ministry of Justice remained committed to supporting increasing demand. Therefore, the MOJ decided that funding would be provided to Police and Crime Commissioners to administer locally based on local need.
In Cleveland, service providers have seen increase of at least a 50% in the number of victims coming forward for support.
People affected by childhood abuse on average require more counselling sessions to aid recovery.
Therefore, the Police and Crime Commissioner would like to use funding to increase counselling provision locally to support people impacted by Child Sexual Abuse (CSA).
The aim is to ensure victims are provided with the opportunity for counselling support in a more timely manner.
