On the 2 February 2022, the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) concluded the selection process for the Chief Constable of Cleveland Police, resulting in the Commissioner selecting a preferred candidate.
The PCC has selected Mark Webster.
In accordance with schedule 8 of the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011 and Part 3 of the Police and Crime Panels (Precepts and Chief Constable Appointments) Regulations 2012, the PCC will ask the Police and Crime Panel to consider and make a report to him on the proposed appointment, at a confirmation hearing on 10 February 2022.
The PCC’s reasons for this decision are set out in his report to the Panel which is appended to this Decision Record Form at Appendix A.
