The PCC funding meeting considered four applications which were not supported following the Funding Approvals meeting on 20 July 2017.
The first application was a request for funding from a gypsy and traveller community-based charity working in the Cleveland area. The charity had requested funding for salary costs and to provide sessions for the young people at the traveller site to interact with the Police. The charity had already been successful with over £42k worth of funding from the PCC previously and on this occasion it was declined.
The second request was from an organisation for crime prevention equipment. The organisation have received funding for the past two years for crime prevention equipment. This application was declined and the Force’s Crime Prevention officers continue to work closely with the organisation.
The third application came from an organisation that are hosting a celebration event during black history month and had requested funding from the PCC to hire the venue and stage and also for entertainment. This request was declined due to there being an insufficient direct outcome relating to any of the five PCC priorities.
The fourth request was from an independent advocacy service providing support to vulnerable people with experiences of addictions, treatment and abstinence recovery that had requested funding for costs for a three year service. This was declined as it was felt that the OPCC needed to develop a better understanding of demand for service and gaps in provision.
