The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) is based at the purpose-built Central Cleveland Police Headquarters (HQ,) Hemlington, Middlesbrough.
In addition to the OPCC, a number of other services and facilities are based at central HQ, which opened in July 2018.
The multi-million pound building houses Cleveland Police’s control room, specialist services and Cleveland Police’s Executive Team. It also has meeting spaces for the force, OPCC and their partner agencies.
The road leading to the Hub is called Cliffland Way. Cliffland is the old Nordic name for Cleveland.
The sale of the former Police Headquarters site, in Ladgate Lane, Middlesbrough. covered the entire cost of the building.
After staff moved out, Ladgate Lane was demolished. Persimmon Homes bought the site and developed Ladgate Woods housing estate.
The new HQ provides a cost-effective and cutting-edge home for modern-day, specialist policing on Teesside.
The new building is more energy efficient than Ladgate Lane. It is also a lasting legacy for the next generation.
Esh Build was the build partner. It used local suppliers to support construction and invested in skills’ workshops in Cleveland schools.
